  • Bonjour!

Hi guys, well I am back from France having had a great time at the surf competition. My boys did really well and I was proud of them.

So, now back in wet and windy Glasgow. Boo hoo! Tomorrow I am running a Blow Your Mind! workshop for a big Call Centre just outside the city, then on Thursday I am running a two day Stress Management event for 30 people from various companies across Scotland. Looking forward to it - staying in a lovely hotel set in beautiful park land - and they do great food apparently.

Hoping to get down to Plymouth in the next few weeks as well as Gavin and I are planning our events for 2009. Some exciting things in the pipeline - particularly around the world of sport and personal development. Looking set to trial a new mind coaching technique too, which is exciting. Will keep you posted.

Well thats all for now, catch you guys soon.

    Take care,

  • The Best Things In Life Are Free!!

Today I have spent a wonderful day surfing with my son in Polzeath. The sun was shining, the surf was good and everyone had a smile on their faces.

This reminded me of something that I ask all of my clients when I see them. I always ask them what was the happiest moment of their life (I then use this alongside any Hypnotherapy I then do with them). 99% of the time my clients talk about a time that was spent with someone close to them, maybe walking on a cliff top, lying on a beach, having a picnic in the park...... See what I am getting at here?

Well good times don't need to cost you anything financially and the rewards are enormous. So, for all those materialistic people out there who are not particularly happy with their life (and there are lots of you, trust me) have a think about this. Also, re-assuring news in the current economic climate.

So my message today is, spend nothing and have fun!

    Have a great week.

  • Credit Crunch Worries in Plymouth, Devon

Are you the one in 50 that is affected by Generalised Anxiety Disorder? Is it all getting abit much? Well, you are not alone and let me explain why…

An article in The Independent newspaper http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-wellbeing/features/ a prime example… It’s opening paragraphs induce gloom:

House values are still dropping, unemployment is on the rise, our holi-days suddenly look vulnerable, and our credit has been well and truly crunched. These are anxious times and, as the reasons to worry multiply, there are signs that therapists could join insolvency lawyers, campsite owners and budget-supermarket bosses on the shortlist of winners in the economic downturn.

Last week, psychologists in Spain, which is on the brink of recession, released figures showing that more people are turning to counsellors to help them cope with money worries. In the UK, NHS figures for 2007 suggest that one in 50 of us are affected by Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), or persistent and irrational worry about everyday things, while at least one in 10 of us suffers the occasional panic attack. As the nights draw in on the summer that never was, it is perhaps only a matter of time before these figures start climbing, but there are things that we can all do to keep anxiety at bay.

Now fear not, if you are anxious or worried help is at hand if you are in the Plymouth area. Just subscribe to this blog or contact me via my website to find out how.

  • Marian Glanville

You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left,

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her or you can be full of the love you shared,

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday,

You can remember her and only that she’s gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on,

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Today I attended a beautiful funeral. Auntie Marian - rest in peace x

  • Surfs Up Dude!

    Hi Guys

What a life! I am currently in Hossegor, South West France providing some mind coaching for a couple of guys and girls competing in this weekend's professional Quicksilver Pro surfing competition, which is part of the ASP World Tour.

Great event, fantastic buzz around the town - and should be a super weekend. My guys are looking great and I can't wait to cheer them on.

    Boy, I love my job.

    Take care,

  • Do My Muscles Look Big In This?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/health/newsid_7611000/7611115.stm

I have just been reading on the BBC news website that men too are unhappy with their bodies. To me this does not come as a surprise, as only last week I saw a man in his early twenties who was obsessed with going to the gym and his general appearance.

On talking to him I uncovered that their is tremendous peer pressure amongst that age group to either have a six pack, have the biggest guns (biceps to you and me!), and the coolest haircut. This lad was so stressed by the fact that he had to conform to this image that it was making him physically sick every day.

So see, it's just you ladies who have this pressure - guys have it too. It's a sad state of affairs that we are letting the glamour of movie stars and celebrities rule our lives in our search for perfection.

My advise is just be happy with who you are. You're great as you are!

  • Paul Sturrock - Confidence and Attitude!

Paul Sturrock, Plymouth Argyle's manager, has called for his players to be confident and show the right attitude in tomorrow's match against Norwich City.

Spot on Paul - get those two things right and everything else just takes care of itself.

    Come on you Greens.

    Bye for now.

  • Hypnotherapy and Thin Plymouth People!

Well I never, nearly everyone I met yesterday seemed to be on a diet. A few were having a great deal of success, but most weren't.

Some were looking great, some weren't. Now let me let you into a little secret. DIETS DON'T WORK LONG TERM. Okay, so you will lose some weight over a short spell (be it weeks or months), but it will not last. The reason for this is simply because once that diet finishes (and it will you know), you will simply revert to you old habits that are ingrained in your sub conscious mind. Don't forget that you have been overeating or eating the wrong stuff (prior to that diet) since childhood. So, do you really think that a spell at "Waist Shrinkers", "Thinning "World" or some celebrity endorsed fad diets which involves you eating your own toe nails for a week will really change your thinking and habits. Well, it won't.

The only safe and long wasting way to diet (and that has been scientifically proven) is to change your habits and pattens - and the best way to do this is by way of some form of mind coaching. "Wacky - I am not going to let some new age mumbo jumbo junky mess with my head", I hear you cry. Well all I can say to you is just open you mind a little, because if you carrying on doing what you have always done, you will always get the same (often negative) results. So, please, please change your thinking and think a little more openly and longer term. You will be amazed by the results.

    Have a great day.

  • Bradley Patten - Remember This Name!

Many congratulations to Bradley Patten who successfully became Britain's No. 1 at yesterday's National Taekwondo Championships in Manchester. Superb achievement.

This young man is going to be a star - so please remember his name.

    Have a great day,

  • Teenagers Today!!

Today I held a session with a young guy who was only 15, but among the best in the country at his chosen sport. He was a very pleasant young man who was totally devoted to his sport.

Day in day out you read horrific stories of teenagers running amok and causing trouble, but fear not everybody - not all teenagers are the same and this young man is an excellent example and I wish him all the luck in the world - starting with this weekend's national competition.

    Have a great day,

    Gavin

  • Soggy Glasgow v. Sunny Milan

Well hello again, today I have swapped a soggy Glasgow with a sunny Milan - as I am taking sometime out to visit my family and attend a wedding this Sunday.

Things really busy at the moment, Gavin and I have just agreed to run another Sports Performance course and we also are planning a number of one day workshops around personal development. Individually we are both busy seeing clients with Hypnotherapy and NLP. So, things are great.

Back in Glasgow from next Tuesday, whilst Gavin is busy down south!

Also, watch this space for some really exciting news about the MINDSi Mind Coaching Boot Camp.

    Bye for now,

    Jessica x
