"The most elegant forms of managerial decisions involve problems that never have to be solved because they are prevented from occurring. They are anticipated and sidestepped.
Oddly, there is greater appreciation for a manager who can step in and cope with a problem after it happens, than one who can make it not happen. Coping is visible and dramatic. Prevention is unpopular, because it usually means challenging something that is not yet failing; it is thankless, because the only testimony of it's effectiveness is a non-event.
Even so, the deliberate non-catastrophe is one of the most impressive contributions a manager can make"

Give me one person with passion, rather than forty people that are merely interested.

So who watched Channel Five's new show The Mentalist last night. It is basically about a former fake psychic (aren't they all!) who now works with the police to solve crimes. He basically uses a combination of reading people's body language and something called "cold reading". There are also a few magic tricks thrown in for good measure. It's great stuff - watch it.
And if you want to learn about reading body language or cold reading, then give MINDSi a call about attending one of our courses.
Bye for now.

Well apart from a couple of great posts from Jessica (below) (and yes I did manage to High Five three people today - although the old lady at the bus stop thought I was barmby; but she wasn't as suprised as the cashier at Tescos!)), I also learnt something else - and this quote I come across best sums it up - let it be a warning to all of you who get caught up in office politics -
"In a working man's life, a tie is a noose, and inverted though it is, it will hang a man nonetheless if he is not careful".
Think about it and have a great weekend.
